The missing file was msmouse.vxd I did a search on the hard drive for it, and couldn't find it. Went to Windows Explorer and found that my Microsoft Hardware\Mouse folder was gone. I bought an Intellimouse a few days ago which works with okay, except the IntelliPoint software won't install properly (which prevents using the wheel for anything except as a button). The problem apparently has to do with a problem with a file called "mshlocal.dll" not installing properly or corrupted.
